Chart Notes:
The Mekons' recording career stretches back a quarter century,
yet this week they land their biggest hit ever. "Teeth" rises to
number 15, surpassing the number 18 peak of "Memphis, Egypt" in 1989
which was their previous high-water mark.
"...Sudden Stars" by Stereolab finally enters the top 30.
It spent several weeks as a near-miss late last year, when it was
available only on an EP. Now that broad support for the new album
has kicked in, "Stars" is barely trumped by sister track
"Margerine Rock," which also claims Greatest Gainer honours.
Also new on the chart is "Just Pretend" by the Bens, a superstar
project featuring three men named Ben; Folds, Lee and Kweller.
Up and Coming:
Statistics - "Hours Seemed Like Days"
Deeper Cuts:
Ani DiFranco - "Animal"
Camera Obscura - "Suspended from Class"
Mekons - "Work All Week"
