Chart Notes:
This week, Sun Kil Moon accomplishes the rare feat of having both of
the two biggest college radio songs simultaneously. How rare? Well,
it hasn't been done in over 15 years, and only three times ever.
April 1983: U2 rules with "New Year's Day" and "Sunday Bloody
Sunday" from War. The two songs go on to trade places at the top, a
still-unique achievement.
May 1985: Tears for Fears hold the top two spots with "Shout"
and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" from Songs from the Big Chair.
October 1987: R.E.M. holds at number one with "The One I Love"
while "It's the End of the World As We Know It" rises briefly to number
two; both songs from Document.
Both U2 and R.E.M. had near misses with song pairs from other
albums, mistiming by just a week, as did David Bowie (Let's Dance,
1983), Peter Gabriel (So, 1986), Jane's Addiction (Ritual de lo
Habitual, 1990), Porno for Pyros (self titled, 1993), and Beck (Odelay,
1996).

Up and Coming:
   Moonraker - "Courageous World"

Deeper Cuts:
   Ryan Adams - "Burning Photographs"
Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros - "Arms Aloft"
